Charles Jock Named to The Bowerman Watch List, Derrick Returns to Elite Ten

NEW ORLEANS – UC Irvine’s Charles Jock was added to The Bowerman Watch List and Stanford’s Chris Derrick rejoined the group of ten the award’s men’s watch list committee announced on Wednesday. Jock won an incredible race over rival Ryan Martin (UC Santa Barbara) in the 800 meters at the Big West Championships last weekend in an American- and collegiate-leading time of 1:44.75. All-Region Awards for 2012 Division II Outdoor Track & Field Announced

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has named All-Region honorees for outdoor track & field in Division II. The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region’s top three have earned the All-Region distinction for the 2012 outdoor season. A total of 1,274 athletes receive 1,854 USTFCCCA All-Region nods. The USTFCCCA regions match those used for NCAA Cross Country Championships. Preliminary rounds for the national championships will be held next weekend, May 24-26, and the final rounds will be held June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa. Using the full lot of data from the regular season — and, after many conference championships this past weekend — we have two new No. 1 teams. Texas A&M’s men have taken over the top spot for the second time this year and are looking to win a fourth-straight national title in the coming weeks.
