Villanova’s Sheila Reid Wins Third Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honor

NEW ORLEANS – Sheila Reid of Villanova University was named the USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Women’s Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2011 cross country season on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Reid won a second-straight NCAA cross country individual national title this past fall. Overall, it is Reid’s third Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Reid has twice won the cross country version of the award, and, for the 2011 track & field season, she was the USTFCCCA’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for outdoor track

Ben Sathre Named Scholar-Athlete of 2011 Division III Cross Country Season

NEW ORLEANS – Ben Sathre of the University of St. Thomas (Minnesota) was named the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Men’s Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2011 cross country season on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Sathre was also the NCAA Division III cross country champion for the 2011 fall season

QUICKLY … The top three men’s teams — No. 1 North Central (Ill.), No. 2 UW-La Crosse, and No. 3 UW-Oshkosh — remain unchanged from the previous week and has been the same since the preseason. On the women’s side, the top six teams are the same as last week with No. 1 Wartburg, No. 2 UW-Oshkosh, and No. 3 Williams holding down the top three spots. Expect some movement next week national rankings will be compiled for the first time this season with only marks from the 2012 indoor season
