NEW ORLEANS – In addition to its many professional and technical development opportunities through symposiums and Divisional meetings, the 2016 USTFCCCA Convention will also be the site of a pair of collegiate track & field’s premier events and several other social events.

As part of the registration for the Convention – held December 13-16 in Orlando, Florida, at the Orlando Grande Lakes Resort – attendees are invited to attend the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony, the MONDO Dinner, and the presentation of The Bowerman – collegiate track & field’s highest individual honor.

The Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 14, will honor the Class of 2016 as it is formally accepted into the ranks of all-time great coaches. Terry Franson, Pat Healy, Mike Holloway, Bob Kitchens, Marty Stern and Bubba Thornton will be recognized for their exceptional careers as Convention-goers enjoy a formal meal.

The MONDO Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 15, is a chance for coaches to socialize with one another and enjoy the surroundings of the Orlando Grande Lakes over a buffet-style meal. Weather pending, the event will be held outdoors.

New this year, the presentation of The Bowerman will officially close the USTFCCCA Convention on the evening of Friday, Dec. 16. Following the conclusion of Divisional voting sessions that afternoon, Convention-goers are invited to a live awards show where the iconic 35lb. trophy will be presented to the most outstanding man and woman in collegiate track & field.

Up for the men’s award this year are Texas A&M’s Donavan Brazier, Oregon’s Edward Cheserek and Arkansas’ Jarrion Lawson. Contending for the women’s trophy are Courtney Okolo of Texas, Keturah Orji of Georgia and Raven Saunders of Ole Miss.

A dinner reception will be held following the award show.

Other events to check out throughout the week include the Female Coaches’ Roundtable on Tuesday afternoon and the USTFCCCA Golf Scramble Tuesday morning.

The Convention’s opening session will be held Wednesday afternoon.
