NEW ORLEANS – Continuing what has become a fixture at its annual Convention, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) will once again host a program exclusively for the female coaches in attendance this December at the Orlando Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Any woman coach registered for the Convention is invited to take part in a special two-hour event at 2pm ET on Tuesday, December 13 designed to give attendees the opportunity to share perspectives and experiences relating to the challenges women face in the coaching profession.
"This particular event is a unique opportunity for women to connect with one another and to engage in meaningful discussions that is relevant to coaching," event organizer Rhonda Riley of Duke said. "The ability to network and feel supported in this profession is something that the women can take away from attending the convention."
Headlining the event is a presentation by Denita Turner, the CEO of Image Builders, Inc. Turner is returning to the Convention after a well-received presentation at the 2014 Convention, attended by more than 150 women coaches.
"Denita is a dynamic presenter who can captivate an audience and relate to them through her own professional experiences," Riley said. "The women were very receptive to her message two years ago and bringing Denita back will be a great way to kick off the Convention."
Turner founded Image Builders, Inc. with the idea of offering specialized personal enhancement programs that help clients establish a more effective and positive image. She draws her experience from more than 20 years in sales and marketing at Fortune 500 companies including Marriott International, Inc., and Coca-Cola Co.
Her clients have included Purdue University, University of Connecticut, University of Massachusetts, Howard University, General Electric, Unisys Corporation, Turner Broadcasting, Inc., Lucent Technologies, Marriott International, Inc., National Basketball Association, Women’s National Basketball Association and the New York Rangers Hockey Team.
Turner will speak with attendees for the first hour about "how to be the best you," exploring the difference between average and above average.
The presentation will transition into small group discussions, in which attendees will have the opportunity to consider and review personal, professional and common goals. Group and small roundtable discussions will allow for the women in attendance to discover common practices found in the happiest people and review what is necessary to make that happen in their own lives and careers.
All the while, those in attendance will have the opportunity to network with their peers from all around the national at various stages in their careers.
