CONVENTION UPDATE: Honoring The Best

NEW ORLEANS – Did you know that as part of registration for the annual USTFCCCA Convention you are also invited to attend the USTFCCCA Coaches Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony and the presentation of The Bowerman?

This year the USTFCCCA Convention will be held from December 12-15 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony will be held Wednesday, December 13 at 7:30 pm inside the Grand Saguaro Ballroom. The Class of 2017 is a special one as Amy Deem, Pete Farwell, Jack Hazen, Bob Kersee, Fred Samara and Patrick Shane will take their place among the ranks of all-time great coaches. Deem, Farwell, Hazen, Kersee, Samara and Shane have more than 200 combined years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.

And just like last year, the presentation of The Bowerman will officially close the USTFCCCA Convention on the evening of Friday, December 15.

The Bowerman is collegiate track & field’s highest individual honor and has been so since its debut in 2009. Former winners of The Bowerman include two-time Olympic gold medalist Ashton Eaton, two-time Olympic medalists Derek Drouin and Galen Rupp as well as 2016 Olympic gold medalist Brianna Rollins.

The men’s finalists for The Bowerman this year are former Tennessee standout Christian Coleman and the Texas A&M duo of Fred Kerley and Lindon Victor.

The women’s finalists for The Bowerman this year are Arizona State thrower Maggie Ewen, Georgia horizontal jumper Keturah Orji and Oregon star Raevyn Rogers.
