NAIA ITF National Athletes of the Week (January 10-16)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – NAIA National Athletes of the Week for the first week of the 2018 indoor track & field season were recently announced by the organization.

Recipients were Zach Brittain of Doane (Neb.) and Kejavon Moore of Indiana Tech for the men and Anna Shields of Point Park (Pa.) and Chelsea Baker of Friends (Kan.) for the women.

NAIA Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Kejavon Moore, Indiana Tech
Jr., Phoeniz, Ariz.

  • Placed 1st in the 60m with a time of 6.69 seconds
  • Broke his own school record for the 60m
  • Placed 2nd in the 200 m with a time of 21.93

NAIA Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Zach Brittain, Doane (Neb.)
Sr., Grand Island, Neb.

  • Posted the top mark in the NAIA for shot put with a throw of 59-06.75
  • Best mark in NAIA shot put since 2013-2014 season
  • Broke the school record for shot put
  • Achieved an “A” mark for weight throw while finishing 3rd overall

NAIA Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

Anna Shields, Point Park (Pa.)
Jr., Torrington, Conn.

  • Placed 2nd in the mile with a time of 4:45.34
  • This is the number 1 time in all of NAIA this season
  • Placed 3rd in the 1000m with a time of 2:48.67
  • This is the number 1 time in all of NAIA this season
  • Currently is ranked 7th across all collegiate indoor track athletes

NAIA Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

Chelsea Baker, Friends (Kan.)
Sr., Pittsburg, Kan.

  • Placed 1st in High Jump with a mark of 1.69m
  • Baker still holds the number 1 mark this season at 1.75m
  • Placed 1st in Long Jump with a mark of 5.60m
