NEW ORLEANS – Scholar Teams of the Year and All-Academic Team honors for the 2018-19 NAIA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field seasons were announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Indiana Tech earned both the Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year honors, while Wayland Baptist (Texas) and Southern-New Orleans (La.) were honored as the respective Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Teams of the Year.

Indiana Tech’s athletes had a cumulative team GPA of 3.17 while also standing out on the track and in the field. The Warriors won the indoor team title – which made them an easy choice for Men’s Indoor Scholar Team of the Year – and finished fourth outdoors.
Wayland Baptist earned Women’s Indoor Scholar Team of the Year honors after winning the indoor title and posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.11.
Southern-New Orleans (La.) captured Women’s Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year honors after finishing runner-up outdoors. The Knights had a cumulative team GPA of 3.37.
All told, 74 teams were honored by the USTFCCCA for their academics.
Breaking it down further, 44 of those were women’s teams compared to 30 men’s programs.
No team posted a better cumulative GPA than Embry-Riddle (Ariz.)’s women at 3.707.
Oregon Tech had the best cumulative GPA out of any men’s program at 3.61.
