2019 Was A Record-Breaking Year In Collegiate Track & Field

We saw a staggering number of awe-inspiring performances on the track and in the field in 2019.

You could even go as far as saying many of them were record-breaking. We would.

From The USTFCCCA InfoZone: Records & Lists

A total of 42 records fell between the five collegiate divisions (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NJCAA and NAIA) during the indoor and outdoor seasons, including eight collegiate records (six of which were turned in by athletes from the SEC).

There were eight athletes who broke multiple individual records in 2019:

  • Grant Holloway, Florida – Men’s 60 Meter Hurdles (CR), Men’s 110 Meter Hurdles (CR)
  • Mondo Duplantis, LSU – Men’s Indoor Pole Vault (CR), Men’s Outdoor Pole Vault (CR)
  • Eldred Henry, Findlay – Men’s Indoor Shot Put (NCAA DII), Men’s Outdoor Shot Put (NCAA DII)
  • Kenny Bednarek, Indian Hills (Iowa) – Men’s Indoor 200 Meters (NJCAA), Men’s Outdoor 200 Meters (NJCAA)
  • Devia Brown, Central Arizona – Women’s Indoor Shot Put (NJCAA), Women’s Outdoor Shot Put (NJCAA)
  • Emily Kearney, SCAD Atlanta (Ga.) – Women’s Indoor 3000 Meters (NAIA), Women’s Indoor 5000 Meters (NAIA)

  • Stacey Ann Williams, Southern-New Orleans (La.) – Women’s Indoor 400 Meters (NAIA), Women’s Outdoor 400 Meters (NAIA)

Those are just 16 of the aforementioned 42 records that were broken during the 2019 collegiate track & field campaign. That means there are still 26 that we haven’t seen.

Let’s take a look at the full list.
