Anderson Peters Wins Javelin World Title

Anderson Peters capped his undefeated 2019 season on Sunday at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Wait a second.

Yes. You’re reading that correctly.

Anderson Peters is the WORLD CHAMPION.

Peters, who is the two-time defending NCAA champion in the event, captured the gold medal at the 2019 IAAF World Championships on Sunday and it only took one attempt. The rising senior at Mississippi State hurled the javelin 86.69m (284-5), which put him ahead of the rest of the field by more than two feet the rest of the way.

That wasn’t enough for Peters, as he bettered his winning mark to 86.89m (285-1) on his fifth attempt to put his stamp on the competition.

If you’re wondering about his undefeated season, Peters went 8-0 in finals, including victories at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the SEC Outdoor Championships, the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships, the NACAC U23 Championships and the Pan American Games.
