Mineral Area (Mo.) snapped an eight-year streak of team titles won by the Hawks. The last time a team not named Harper College captured the national title was 2010 when SUNY Delhi (N.Y.) was on the tail end of their own seven-year run.
The Cardinals put three runners in the top-10 as they scored 54 points, 25 fewer than runner-up Howard (Md.) CC. Top runners for Mineral Area (Mo.) were Donavan Denslow and Wyatt Elliott in third place and fourth place, respectively.
Suffolk (N.Y.) CC earned its first national title since 2015. The Sharks were the last team to win the national title before Harper College went back to back to back from 2016 to 2018.
Alexandra Smith led the way for Suffolk (N.Y.) CC once again as she claimed the individual title in 18:34.03. That was the third fastest time by a female individual champion in meet history.
The Sharks ended up with 27 points, which is the second fewest scored by a winning team since 2010. It was also 64 fewer than those aforementioned Hawks scored, who finished runner-up.
