For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Nick Maas and I am the new Head Coach at UW-Parkside. We are in the early planning stages for our 2020 XC season and wanted to pass along some information. In the coming years, we will be specifically marketing our Lucian Rosa Invitational as an NCAA Division 2 elite meet—and I would like to formally invite you and your teams to join us for the 2020 Lucian Rosa Invitational.
The date of the meet has been established as Saturday, September 19th 2020. The course has hosted countless NCAA Conference, Regional and National championships, including the Footlocker Midwest Regional Championships—and it was recently was named one of the top 8 cross country courses in the country according to NCAA.com. The course is heavily wooded with a variety of terrain and creates an amazing racing environment!
The 2020 installment will be a grand event with separate high school sections of more than 40 high school teams in the region competing per gender. With nearly 2,000 high school athletes competing, we hope to have a similar number of college teams to make it one of the premier meets in the country. The cities of Kenosha and Racine are vibrant running communities with hundreds of restaurants and plenty of hotel availability–and the Milwaukee and Chicago O’Hare airports are only 45 minutes from our campus! Additionally, Parkside is beginning the Bid process for the 2022-2026 NCAA championships cycle to host the regional and NCAA final on the Wayne Dannehl XC Course.
I will be reaching out to as many of you as possible during the 2019 USTFCCCA Convention and throughout the year with more information. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to RSVP or have any questions.
