2020 NCAA DI Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 6

NEW ORLEANS – There are less than two weeks remaining until the rescheduled 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on March 15 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Remember that you can watch all of the action LIVE on ESPN U & the ESPN App beginning at 12:30 pm ET.

With that said, we couldn’t think of a better time to reveal the final NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2020 season.

Great Lakes Region

There was only one change to the order of top-5 teams in the Great Lakes Region.

Wisconsin remained No. 1, followed by No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 Michigan and No. 4 Indiana. Michigan State jumped two spots to No. 5, switching places with now No. 7 Butler.

Mid-Atlantic Region

There was only one change to the order of top-5 teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Villanova remained No. 1, followed by No. 2 Georgetown and No. 3 Navy. Pittsburgh jumped two spots to No. 4 based on strong recent efforts on the track from members of its cross country team. Temple dropped one spot to No. 5, while Penn State slid to No. 6.

Midwest Region

There were wholesale changes to the order of top-5 teams in the Midwest Region.

Oklahoma State, by virtue of its head-to-head victory over Tulsa at the OSU Winter Open and winning the Big 12 Conference title over Iowa State in the fall, jumped to No. 1. The Cyclones also moved up one spot to No. 2, while the Golden Hurricane fell to No. 3.

Nebraska found its way to No. 4 after a second look at its results from the Big Ten Championships and Kansas State remained at No. 5 for yet another week.

Mountain Region

There was only one change to the order of top-5 teams in the Mountain Region.

BYU, fresh off its victory at the West Coast Conference Championships, remained No. 1, followed by Big Sky Conference runner-up No. 2 Northern Arizona, No. 3 Colorado and No. 4 Utah State. Big Sky champion Southern Utah jumped three spots from No. 8 to No. 5.

Northeast Region

There was one big change to the order of top-5 teams in the Northeast Region.

Iona remained No. 1 after its strong showing at the Spider Patriot Cross Classic two weeks ago, while UConn, the runner-up from that meet, jumped six spots to No. 2. The Huskies put two runners in the top-5 and were the only other program outside of the Gaels to have four finishers in the top-15.

Syracuse held steady at No. 3, followed by new No. 4 UMass Lowell and No. 5 Stony Brook.

South Region

There were no changes to the order of top-5 teams in the South Region.

Ole Miss remained No. 1, followed by No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 Tennessee and No. 5 Lipscomb.

South Central Region

There were a few changes to the order of top-5 teams in the South Central Region.

Arkansas remained No. 1, followed by No. 2 Texas and No. 3 Southeastern Louisiana. Rice and LSU both jumped one spot to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Southeast Region

There was one change to the order of top-5 teams in the Southeast Region.

NC State remained No. 1, followed by No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 Virginia and No. 4 Duke. Charlotte, fresh off its victory at the Conference USA Championships, is now No. 5.

West Region

There were a few changes to the order of top-5 teams in the West Region.

Stanford remained No. 1, but is now followed in order by No. 2 Washington, No. 3 Oregon and West Coast Conference runner-up No. 4 Gonzaga. West Coast Conference third-place team Portland fell three spots from No. 2 to No. 5.
