2021 NCAA DIII Men’s Indoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 8
NEW ORLEANS – The final NCAA Division III Men’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index of the 2021 season was released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Top-ranked Wartburg was the only top-10 that remained in place from the previous week, while everything else shifted – not only in the top-10, but in the rest of the top-25, too.

The Knights ended the season with 16 national top-10 marks, including chart-toppers in the 400 (Dallas Wright, 48.42), 5000 (Joe Freiburger, 14:25.87) and DMR (9:53.96). Wright, who is also ranked in the top-5 in the 60H (No. 4, 8.10), is one of several Wartburg athletes ranked among the top-10 in multiple events: Christopher Collet (No. 4, mile; No. 6 3000), Freiburger (No. 1, 5000; No. 3, 3000; No. 6 mile) and Derrick Smith (No. 2, 200; No. 5, 60) are some others.
Loras jumped three spots from Week 7 to Week 8 and concluded the season with 13 national top-10 marks. Mike Jasa is the only chart-topper with his 800-meter effort of 1:51.31, but eight other performances reside in the top-5 nationally, including two second-best showings in the 4×400 (3:16.51) and DMR (10:06.49).
The next five programs all reside in the WIAC and didn’t compete – or have a chance to better their seasonal bests – at the DIII Elite Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend: No. 3 UW-La Crosse, No. 4 UW-Oshkosh, No. 5 UW-Whitewater, No. 6 UW-Stout and No. 7 UW-Eau Claire. Between them, they own four national-leading marks and 39 efforts that ended up in the top-10 on the final Descending Order List.
Central (Iowa) improved three spots from No. 11 to No. 8 based off its season-ending efforts this past weekend. The Dutch added or improved three national top-10 marks to its ledger, led by WIll Dehaan’s 1:53.59 effort in the 800 that puts him seventh nationally.
No. 9 John Carroll and No. 10 Mount Union round out the top-10 in Week 8.
