Texas and Texas A&M held steady at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Neither the top-ranked Longhorns nor the second-ranked Aggies added any national top-10 marks to their ledgers. That should change in the coming weeks, as both programs eye big marks at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational (Texas) as well as the Tom Jones Memorial (Texas A&M).
LSU jumped six spots from No. 9 to No. 3 between Week 2 and Week 3. The defending national champions starred at the Joe May Invitational, as they notched five national top-10 marks in three different event areas: the sprints with Dorian Camel snagging a pair in the 100 meters (No. 6, 10.12w) and 200 meters (No. 6, 20.31), as well as Da’Marcus Fleming in the 100 (No. 9, 10.14w); and then in the throws with John Meyer (19.87m/65-2¼) and Jake Norris (70.20m/230-4) in the shot put and hammer throw, respectively.
Florida dropped one spot to No. 4 ahead of what promises to be a big weekend for that program at their own Tom Jones Memorial, while Kentucky climbed one spot to No. 5. The Wildcats competed at the Joe May Invitational and saw Dwight St. Hillaire put his name among the top-10 seasonal performers in the 400 (No. 5, 45.41) and Josh Sobota throw his way into the top-10 of the shot put with his mark of 19.87m (65-2¼).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 3: No. 6 Baylor (down one spot), No. 7 Texas Tech (down three spots), No. 8 Stanford (down one spot), No. 9 Arizona State (up two spots) and No. 10 Alabama (up 26 spots). 2021 The Bowerman finalist Turner Washington made his outdoor debut in the discus and found a home at No. 4 on the seasonal chart to help the Sun Devils, while the Crimson Tide recorded four national top-10 marks this past weekend.
Mark your calendars for June 8-11, because that’s when the 2022 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon!
