

2022 NCAA DII Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index – Week 5
NEW ORLEANS – We’re officially one month out from the start of the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships!
Here is the newest installment of the 2022 NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday. Only marks from the current season are being used, which gives a comprehensive, objective look at which teams have stood out throughout the season.

This week’s National TFRI is headlined by West Texas A&M for a fifth-straight week. Grand Valley State and Azusa Pacific traded spots this week to sit at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, while No. 4 Minnesota State and No. 5 Fresno Pacific held steady.
West Texas A&M added three new or improved national top-10 marks to its ledger, paced by Leah Belfield bettering her No. 2 position in the 100 with a 11.40 clocking. The Lady Buffs also got a pair of No. 9 performances from Jordanae Scott in the 100 (11.61) and Brooke Urban in the high jump (1.73m).
Grand Valley State leapfrogged Azusa Pacific thanks to a trio of new or improved marks that sit among the top-5 nationally. Judith Essemiah had a season best toss of 60.36m (198-1) in the hammer throw to improve her standing as third-best performer this season. In the discus, Erika Beistle moved up to No. 3 (51.01m/167-4) and Emma Richards held steady at No. 4 (50.60m/166-0).
Minnesota State solidified its placement at No. 4 in Week 5 after the duo of Makayla Jackson and Denisha Cartwright combined for four new or improved national top-10 marks: Jackson is No. 2 in the 100 with a windy 11.40 (+3.4) and No. 3 in the 200 at 23.53 (+0.9); Cartwright is the national leader in the 100H with a wind-aided 13.42 (+2.1) and No. 10 in the 100 at 11.62 (+3.4).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 5: No. 6 Adams State, No. 7 Pittsburg State, No. 8 Texas A&M-Commerce, No. 9 Lincoln (Mo.) (up 10 spots) and No. 10 Academy of Art. The Blue Tigers earned the jump thanks to three national top-3 performances in the 400H, 800 and 4×400 relay.
