If you’re looking for major changes, avert your eyes from the top-2 teams: Rowan and UW-Eau Claire held steady at No. 1 and No. 2. The biggest difference between Week 7 and Week 8 is that the Blugolds inched closer to the Profs thanks to adding or improving three national top-10 marks this weekend – namely a pair from Yakob Ekoue in the shot put and discus.
Defending national champion Wartburg jumped 10 spots from No. 13 to No. 3. The Knights added or improved six national top-10 marks this past weekend, including two each from Deyton Love (No. 2, 110H; No. 5, 400H) and Dallas Wright (No. 2, 400; No. 6, 200). Love and Wright also helped Wartburg notch a pair of strong marks in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.
John Carroll is now ranked fourth following a one-spot amelioration. The Blue Streaks, who are the proud owners of six national top-10 marks, added or improved one this past weekend thanks to Ethan Domitrovich in the steeplechase. Domitrovich is now ranked third at 8:59.66.
UW-Oshkosh dropped two spots from No. 3 to No. 5, but to no fault of its own. The Titans added or improved two national top-10 marks this past weekend, one from Steve Potter in the 800 at 1:49.51 (No. 7) and another from Nick Tegtmeier in the shot at 16.32m (53-6½) (No. 10).
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 8: No. 6 UW-La Crosse (unchanged), No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer (unchanged), No. 8 Hardin-Simmons (down four spots), No. 9 UW-Stout (down one spot) and No. 10 Bethel (Minn.) (up six spots). The Royals made the biggest move thanks to adding or improving two national top-10 marks this past weekend.
Mark your calendars for May 26-28, because that’s when the 2022 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio!
