The Bowerman: Ready For 2022 World Athletics Championships

The Bowerman will be well-represented at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.

All told, there will be 28 athletes who have some association with collegiate track & field’s highest honor competing for global medals over the next two weeks at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. That number includes 11 past winners and 17 current and/or past finalists.

About The Bowerman: Past Winners (2009-2021) | On The World Stage

The Bowerman Family will compete across eight of the 12 track events and eight of the ten field events. That’s in addition to 2012 The Bowerman winner Cam Levins and 2009 The Bowerman winner Galen Rupp, who will contest the marathon in TrackTown USA.

2021 The Bowerman winner JuVaughn Harrison will be first to compete in the high jump on Friday morning at 10:10 am PT, while 2021 The Bowerman winner Athing Mu and 2018 The Bowerman finalist Sydney McLaughlin will likely wrap up competition next Sunday with the meet-closing 4×400 relay at 9:50 pm PT (Both McLaughlin and Mu were on the gold-medal winning quartet at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games).

Let’s take a closer look.

Medal-winning performances aren’t new to The Bowerman Family at the World Athletics Championships over the years.

Dating back to 2009, 17 past winners have combined to win 13 World Championships and 41 total World Championship medals. If you include past finalists into that count, those numbers skyrocket to 26 and 70, respectively. (Don’t even get us started on the Indoor Championships.)

The last time the World Athletics Championships were held in 2019, The Bowerman Family collected four individual world titles, three relay crowns and 17 total medals in Doha, Qatar. 2017 The Bowerman winner Christian Coleman (100 meters), 2019 The Bowerman winner Grant Holloway (110-meter hurdles), 2016 The Bowerman finalist Donovan Brazier (800 meters) and 2011 The Bowerman finalist Christian Taylor (triple jump) all topped the podium individually.

We can’t wait to see what The Bowerman Family can do in 2022!
