Bobby Van Allen, Johns Hopkins: 2021 NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country National Coach Athlete of the Year (Dr. Jack Daniels Award)

Bobby Van Allen led the Blue Jays to a record-tying seventh team title at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, as they beat Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by just two points in a thrilling competition that came down to the fifth runners. Johns Hopkins matched SUNY Cortland for the most team titles by a women’s program in NCAA DIII history, so it’s only fitting that Van Allen received the newly-named Dr. Jack Daniels Award. Earlier in the season, the Blue Jays also placed first at the Mid-Atlantic Region Championships, the Centennial Conference Championships and the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle, among others.
