Ed Jacoby, USTFCCCA Coaches Hall of Fame Class of 2004

Ed Jacoby retired from Boise State in 1997 after 24 years as head track & field coach, a tenure that included numerous team successes and 13 Coach of the Year honors.

He was the head of the physical education department and track coach at College of the Canyons in California from 1969 to 1974 and a high school track coach from 1962 to 1969. In 1969 he took over as head track & field coach at Boise State where he was three-time NCAA District Coach of the Year and ten-time Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year.

Jacoby served as high jump coordinator for USA Track & Field for eight years and a member of the staff for three USA national teams, including the 1992 Olympic team. He is the author of three books on track & field and a historian of the Nez Perce Indian Tribe. In commemoration of his accomplishments, the track at Boise State University is named in his honor. His son, Jake Jacoby, is an assistant track & field coach at University of Louisville.
