Assistant Track & Field Coach (Distance)

Portland State University, an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Sky Conference, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Assistant Track & Field/Cross Country coach. The position is responsible for assisting in all aspects of developing and advancing a competitive track & field/cross country program in the Big Sky Conference. This includes, but is not limited to: coaching, recruiting, and counseling student-athletes; managing selected administrative duties of the program; fundraising and public relations; supervising assistants. Compliance with all the rules and regulations of the university, NCAA, and Big Sky Conference is expected.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum three years collegiate coaching experience with USATF Level II Certificate in middle and long distance areas, OR one year collegiate coaching experience with three years collegiate competition and USATF Level II Certificate in middle and long distance areas required. Preferred qualifications include master’s degree, coaching experience with both men and women, NCAA Division I coaching experience, and five years overall coaching experience. Demonstrated excellence in professional/interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to the total welfare of female and male student-athletes. Demonstrated commitment to developing a successful men’s and women’s cross-country/track and field program both academically and athletically. Must become First Aid/CPR/AED certified before on field coaching occurs. Required to pass NCAA Coaches Certification Test.
