Lake Erie College, located in Painesville, OH, invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant Track and Field Coach. Lake Erie College is an NCAA II Program that currently competes as an independent, and has been accepted into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference {GLIAC} in academic year 2010-2011. The Graduate Assistant coach is responsible for duties as assigned by the head track and field coach and will manage a secondary responsibility as defined. This is a 5-month appointment.
General Responsibilities:
- Acts as a visible person to represent the College in a positive manner and to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents.
- Assists in coaching the short and long spints for the track and field team.
- Scouts, evaluates, and coordinates mailings and databases with potential recruits.
- Works closely with the promotional and team fund-raising efforts.
- Follows all institutional and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the track and field team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management or related field preferred. Acceptance in to Lake Erie College Graduate School Program. Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences. Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
Special Requirements:
Qualified applicants will have the availability to work evening and weekends, possess a valid driver’s license for transportation of team in vans or bus, and the ability to travel for team practices, competition and scouting. Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment.
