2022 NCAA DII Women’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll – Week 4
NEW ORLEANS – The season is heating up!
Here is the newest edition of the NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll for the 2022 season, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday. Remember that this poll is conducted by counting votes from eight member coaches – one from each of the division’s eight regions – who also do the Regional Rankings.
The Lewis Crossover was the main reason for this week’s changes. Starting with No. 12 Colorado Christian, the Cougars improved two spots after romping to the team title with 68 points, 24 points fewer than runner-up and now No. 13 Minnesota Duluth. The Cougars’ scoring five finished in the top-24 as Paige Tack and Shannon King placed in the top-10.
Other teams that saw their stock rise after strong performances in Romeoville, Illinois are No. 15 Winona State (up one spot from No. 16), No. 24 Saginaw Valley State (up two spots from No. 26) and No. 26 Michigan Tech (up three spots from No. 29). The Warriors, behind Lindsay Cunningham’s individual title, placed third with 116 points and finished three points ahead of now No. 16 Lewis (previously No. 15). The Cardinals and Huskies finished right behind in fifth and sixth, respectively, with a notable finish ahead of now No. 28 Western Washington (previously No. 10).
Biola (Calif.) earned a one spot improvement to No. 20. It was at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational that the Eagles captured the team title over Claremont-Mudd Scripps, a top-5 program in the NCAA DIII National Coaches’ Poll, by placing their scoring runners in the top-10.
Minnesota State, who was not ranked for the last two weeks, jumps back into the top-30 to No. 18 following a stellar performance in Wisconsin. Amanda Montplaisir, the reigning M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week, led the Mavericks to a second-place finish at the Lucian Rosa Invitational and topped several notable programs in the field: No. 19 Wayne State (Mich.), No. 27 Rogers State, new No. 29 Southwest Baptist (previously No. 23) and Hillsdale (previously RV).
Mark your calendars for Friday, December 2, as the 2022 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships will take place at Chambers Bay Golf Club in Tacoma, Washington!
