The Introduction to Track and Field Coaching Course (IFTC) is a 6 hour introductory course in the coaching of Track and Field. The course is taught over one day. Curriculum is broad based, covering in an introductory manner all key aspects of managerial and technical coaching. Technical sections are illustrated with pertinent, video created specifically for this course, to enhance clarity and understanding. Topics included in the course are:

Why the ITFC?
The ITFC is a part of the USTFCCCA’s Track and Field Academy. The Track and Field Academy is the only program of its type operated by a coaching organization, with a unique understanding of the challenges and issues that coaches deal with in their daily institutional setting. Our curriculum illustrates this understanding.
Cost
Tuition for the on-site version of the course is $60 when registering at least 10 days prior to the course. For late and on-site registration, tuition is $75. $20 of this fee constitutes an administration fee and is not refundable in case of a student’s cancellation.
Instructors
The TFTC is taught only by highly respected coaches, who have proven themselves in the coaching field and have extensive experience in the teaching profession. Refer to the brochure in for your particular course for information regarding the instructors for the ITFC course you plan to attend.
Registration
Registration for the ITFC is offered online. Select the registration link for the school you wish to attend on the Academy’s Upcoming Course Offerings page. This registration also serves a place reservation, as space is limited and admission is granted on a first come, first served basis.

The ITFC is intended to serve track coaches of all levels, who lack extensive experience in track and field or the coaching profession. The course would be advantageous to coaches of beginning to intermediate level.
Does the ITFC have a test?
Yes, there is an on-line test to be completed in a specified time period following the classroom portion of the course.
Does the Track and Field Academy certify me? Will this course grant certification?
The Track and Field Academy grants several genuine certifications by the USTFCCCA to coaches who successfully complete their courses and evaluation. Unlike other programs that offer certificates of completion, this and other Track and Field Academy courses offer true certifications of your skills and knowledge. The ITFC however, is not a certification course; it offers credit for course completion.
Is the ITFC part of a more extensive program?
Yes. The ITFC is just one of the courses offered by the Track and Field Academy. The program offers multiple courses and certifications, as well as other continuing education experiences for the coach. Is this course a prerequisite to attend other schools?
No. Other courses may have prerequisites or experience requirements however. These are listed in the course catalog section of this website.
