Program Overview
The Track and Field Academy offers a limited number of tuition scholarships to qualified female and/or minority coaches. The scholarship covers the tuition cost of the TFA’s Specialist Certification Courses. These courses are:
- 302. Sprint, Hurdle, Relay Specialist Certification
- 303. Jumps Specialist Certification
- 304. Throws Specialist Certification
- 305. Endurance Specialist Certification
- 306. Combined Event Specialist Certification
- 310. Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification
Availability
For each course or group of courses, three tuition scholarships are available to be awarded to chosen applicants.

Deadlines and Timelines
Applications for a particular course must be received 60 days prior to the start of the course, and recipients will be notified within 45 days of the start of the course.
Eligibility
Recipients must be US citizens and members of the USTFCCCA. Applicants must also be female or a member of the following ethic minorities.
- Native American
- Native Alaskan
- Asian
- Pacific Islander
- African American
- Hispanic
Selection Criteria
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of the following criteria.
- The applicant must meet all of the above requirements, deadlines, and timeframes.
- High levels of Academic performance in the applicant’s collegiate degree program are preferred.
- High levels of Academic performance in previous Academy work are preferred.
- Candidates who have not received this scholarship before are preferred
- High levels of coaching success as indicated by team and individual athletic achievement are preferred.
- Applicants who are within the first 10 years of their careers in coaching are preferred.
Program Rules
- The scholarships are reserved for women and minority applicants as detailed above.
- The scholarship covers course tuition and materials only, the applicant should expect to cover any travel and/or other expenses incurred.
- Applicants are limited to receipt of one scholarship per year.
- Scholarship recipients who fail to register and attend the course for which the scholarship was attained will be disqualified from further participation in the scholarship program unless written documentation of extenuating circumstances can be provided.
