The Bowerman: 2023 Fan Vote Update

The Bowerman Fan Vote is off to a hot start!

More than 17,500 votes have flooded the ballot box since we first opened the Fan Vote on Tuesday afternoon, following the announcement of the Men’s Finalists in 2023.

Remember: The Bowerman Fan Vote might give a finalist a leg up on the others, but it’s just a small portion of the overall tally, which also includes ballots from The Bowerman Advisory Board, each of the past winners from 2009 to 2022, one uniform vote from members of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as well as select media personnel, statisticians and collegiate administrators.

With that said, here is the FIRST OFFICIAL UPDATE of The Bowerman Fan Vote.

Let’s see how Kyle Garland of Georgia, Jaydon Hibbert of Arkansas and Leo Neugebauer of Texas are faring on the men’s side, as well as how Julien Alfred of Texas, Jasmine Moore of Florida and Britton Wilson of Arkansas are doing in the women’s ballot.

The Bowerman Fan Vote – 2023 Men’s Update #1

Name Program % of Votes
Jaydon Hibbert Arkansas 48.1
Leo Neugebauer Texas 26.8
Kyle Garland Georgia 25.1

Hibbert has a commanding lead after 24 hours.

Arkansas fans have a history of showing up for their finalists. Hibbert could join Jarrion Lawson as a men’s winner of the Fan Vote. Don’t forget: Lawson would later win The Bowerman in December 2016.

The Bowerman Fan Vote – 2023 Women’s Update #1

Name Program % of Votes
Julien Alfred Texas 45.9
Britton Wilson Arkansas 33.1
Jasmine Moore Florida 21.1

Alfred sprinted ahead of the competition thanks to her fans.

The Texas phenom is up more than ten percentage points over her counterparts. If this keeps up, Alfred could join 2021 finalist Tara Davis as the second female athlete from Texas to win the Fan Vote in history.

The Bowerman Fan Vote will be open until Thursday, June 29, at 4 pm ET.

We’ll announce the winners on TheBowerman.org in the ensuing days.
