Track and Field Academy to Host Summer Semester With Event Specialist Certifications

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The USTFCCCA Track & Field Academy will hold inaugural Event Specialist Certification programs this upcoming summer. The courses will be held on the campus of St. John’s University in New York City and will begin July 11, 2011 and last until July 15. Topics include training theory, biomechanics , training components, design and administration, peripheral training concerns, technical issues and teaching in the event area of your choosing.
The following courses will be offered:
302. Sprint, Hurdle, and Relay Event Specialist Certification.
303. Jumping Event Specialist Certification.
304. Throwing Event Specialist Certification.
305. Endurance Event Specialist Certification.
A prerequisite of the program is three years of formal coaching experience. The program includes 36 hours of instruction in the chosen event area.
Applications will be accepted beginning January 15, 2011.
The Track & Field Academy is an educational and certification program designed to provide professional development opportunities for coaches at all levels of the sport. The mission of the Track & Field Academy is to deliver ongoing educational experiences and certification opportunities, covering the technical, managerial and philosophical aspects of the profession.
The Track & Field Academy’s curriculum is a sequential, organized program of instruction with certifications and endorsements for multiple levels of the coaching profession. Courses and programs range from broad based instruction to specific, highly technical courses.
In addition, the Track and Field Academy will provide opportunities for professional development in other areas including academic monitoring, recruiting, and meet management, among others. The program will offer multiple opportunities for continuing education without the need to exit the program once certifications are achieved.
The Track & Field Academy is open to both members and non-members of the USTFCCCA.
