

DIII Rankings: McMurry, Wartburg Lead the Favorites Heading to National Meet
NEW ORLEANS — McMurry’s men and Wartburg’s women will enter this weekend’s NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the No. 1 teams in the country according to the latest USTFCCCA National Team Computer Rankings. The championships, starting this upcoming Thursday, will be hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, Calif. NCAA.com will provide live coverage.
McMurry’s men, the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Champions, has 22 entries into the national meet, but No. 2 UW-La Crosse leads all teams with 31 national-championship entries are the lead favorite to spoil McMurry’s run.
On the women’s side, Wartburg again set an all-time rankings record, tallying 413.51 ranking points in this week’s update. Wartburg last won the outdoor NCAA title in 2009, and, this spring, the Knights won the national indoor crown. Wartburg comes to the NCAA Championships with a meet-best 34 entries, 14 more than nearest challenger and No. 2-ranked UW-Oshkosh.
