2014 USTFCCCA Convention Update: “Women in Coaching” Program

NEW ORLEANS – "Women In Coaching," a program exclusively for the female coaches attending the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention, will take place Sunday, December 14, the day prior to the official start of the Convention.

Included with registration for the Convention, this program will explore challenges women face in the coaching profession through the lens of professional development.

Carlette Patterson, CEO of Patterson Sports Ventures, and DeNita Turner, CEO of Image Builders, Inc., will be the featured speakers for the afternoon on various topics aimed to maximize efficiency and leadership in the workplace.

Patterson is an internationally recognized Sports Life Coach with 20+ years of senior leadership in amateur, collegiate and professional sports organizations. She is the Sports Life Coach for Arizona State University women’s Basketball and Golf Teams. She has a passion for sports life coaching and has devoted her life to coaching professional coaches, athletes and their families to lead a life of significance during and after their sports career.

She will first present on work-life balance, and how a well-balanced life can put one on the fast track in "Life’s Race" by reconnecting with one’s identity. She will then speak to attendees about rest and recovery, which are as important to coaches as to their student-athletes to prevent burnout.

Turner, President and CEO, founded Image Builders, Inc. with the idea of offering specialized personal enhancement programs that help clients establish a more effective and positive image. She draws her experience from more than 20 years in sales and marketing at Fortune 500 companies including Marriott International, Inc., and Coca-Cola Co.
