NAIA T&F Coaches Association to Conduct Annual Business Meetings at USTFCCCA Convention

NEW ORLEANS – As part of a growing relationship with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and its member institutions, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Friday the annual USTFCCCA Convention will be the new home of the yearly NAIA Track & Field Coaches Association Business Meetings, beginning this December.

In May, the NAIA Track & Field Coaches Association voted overwhelmingly at its annual business meetings in Gulf Shore, Alabama, to move its future annual meetings to the USTFCCCA Convention. The vote was approved by the NAIA National Administrative Council.

This year’s convention will be held December 15-18 in Phoenix, Arizona, at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa.

"We are excited to further develop this partnership with the NAIA, its coaches and its administrators by significantly expanding their presence at our annual USTFCCCA Convention," USTFCCCA CEO Sam Seemes said. "The NAIA is an important part of the collegiate track & field landscape. Having its Track & Field Coaches Association conduct business meetings at the Convention alongside our NCAA members is positive move that will only help the growth of the sport."

This year’s NAIA meetings are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 17.

“NAIA Track & Field is thrilled to begin hosting our annual Coaches Association Business Meetings in conjunction with the USTFCCCA Convention beginning in December of 2014," NAIA Manager of Championship Sports Dustin Wilke said. "This move will allow our coaches to engage more thoroughly in the development opportunities available at the Convention and cultivate a more impactful relationship between the two organizations which will no doubt be beneficial to all involved."

In between meetings, NAIA coaches registered for the Convention will be able to take advantage of all it has to offer. Professional development opportunities include numerous Symposium sessions covering all disciplines of track & field, presented by some of the top coaches in the country.

In the evenings, NAIA coaches are also invited to attend the Convention’s signature events: the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame Induction & Dinner and the presentation of The Bowerman Trophy.

In addition to welcoming the NAIA meetings into the Convention schedule, the USTFCCCA also implemented this past spring the inaugural NAIA National Team Rankings for both indoor and outdoor track & field in an effort to help promote the sport to the media and public.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is a non-profit professional organization representing cross country and track & field coaches of all levels. The organization represents over 8,000 coaching members encompassing 94% of all NCAA track & field programs (DI, DII, and DIII) and includes members representing the NAIA as well as a number of state high school coaches associations. The USTFCCCA serves as an advocate for cross country and track & field coaches, providing a leadership structure to assist the needs of a diverse membership, serving as a lobbyist for coaches’ interests, and working as a liaison between the various stakeholders in the sports of cross country and track & field.
