“National Results Wall” for College XC to be Officially Launched Friday by USTFCCCA
NEW ORLEANS – It’s a time-honored tradition in track & field and cross country: people at meets crowd around a wall or column or bulletin board to analyze and take photos of printed-out results stuck to the surface with a couple pieces of masking tape.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is taking this tradition to the next level – the internet – with the official launch of the National Results Wall.
After a successful soft debut this past weekend for Roy Griak, the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown and several other meets, the National Results Wall – which can be accessed here or via the front page of USTFCCCA.org – will now become a weekend staple on the USTFCCCA website.
The concept is simple. By crowdsourcing through an interactive online blog on the CoverItLive platform in place of the traditional brick-and-mortar wall, the USTFCCCA Communications staff will provide timely updates and commentary on the given weekend’s meets that are most significant on the national stage.
Those meets for this upcoming weekend include the Washington Invitational, the Lehigh Paul Short Run, the Notre Dame Invitational, the Greater Louisville Classic, the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival, and the UW-Eau Claire Invitational. Find out more about these meets in this afternoon’s edition of the Warm-Up Lap weekend preview.
The featured meets of the weekend will be announced no later than Wednesday afternoon of that given week.
Twitter feeds, Facebook updates and other social media posts from teams, athletes, spectators and news outlets from around the country attending these meets will be featured and aggregated into one stream to provide up-to-the-minute information.
The Wall will also be a source to quickly find the official results of each of the featured meets once they go final. A scrolling ticker with the all the submitted results from the featured meets will sit atop the blog, which will also intermittently host polls based on the day’s action.
Fans attending the featured meets are also invited to check out the blog during their races and check in with updates of their own.
Shortly after the completion of the biggest meets of the day, the USTFCCCA will dive into instant analysis of those competitions’ implications on the individual and team levels. The Weekend Recap will run down all the weekend’s significant action after each of the featured meets have wrapped up.
