In 2012, Brandon McBride ran 1:46.07 for the fastest 800 by a high schooler in North American history. (McBride is Canadian) In 2013, he eked out a few respectable indoor races before completely tanking outdoors, failing to even make it to nationals. In 2014, he front-ran his way to two NCAA titles and firmly established himself as the best 800 meter runner on the college scene.
