South Plains Men and Iowa Central Women Stay on Top of NJCAA Rankings
NEW ORLEANS—The penultimate NJCAA rankings of the 2015 indoor track & field season were relatively quiet. With the South Plains men and Iowa Central women holding onto their respective No. 1 rankings, the entire men’s top five and women’s top four was the same as it was a week ago. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the rankings on Wednesday.

For both genders, the composition of the top ten remained completely the same, though there were several moves in the order.
On the men’s side, Nos. 2-5 Central Arizona, Iowa Central, Iowa Western, and Western Texas held onto their spot in the rankings. No. 6 Coffeyville moved up three spots to a season-high rank.
No. 21 Hutchinson was the only men’s team to join the top twenty-five this week; they moved up seven spots.
In the women’s computer rankings, Nos. 2-4 South Plains, Central Arizona, and New Mexico stayed steady, and No. 5 Western Texas joined the top five for the first time this season.
Further down the rankings, teams 14-21 all shuffled spots. Johnson County, ranked No. 24 and up eleven spots from a week ago, was the only team to join the top twenty-five this week.
On both sides, all four regions kept the same No. 1 team from a week ago.

Next Tuesday’s national rankings will be the final ones before the March 6-7 national championship in Albuquerque. You can see the entire top 25 below, and peruse the PDFs (sidebar) for each event, the top 45+ men’s and women’s junior college teams, and much more.
Click here for an explanation of how the USTFCCCA National Team Computer Rankings work. The point system is based on the TFRRS national descending order lists. The higher athletes are ranked, the more points they contribute to their teams. Team totals are derived from adding up the point contributions of each of their athletes. Points do not equate to NJCAA Championships scoring.
