First NJCAA Division I Outdoor T&F National Team Rankings Released
NEW ORLEANS – Out of the thirty-six track & field national titles awarded by the NJCAA since the beginning of 2007—men’s and women’s indoors and outdoors each year, including two ties—the men and women of South Plains have won twenty-one of them. Again, the Texans have won 21 of the last 36 national meets.

They’re favored to take two more this spring: with one week of data in the books, both South Plains squads are ranked No. 1 in the first-ever U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s NJCAA National Team Computer Rankings.
The rankings were released by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday.
Following SPC in the men’s rankings at No. 2 was indoor national runner-up Central Arizona. No. 3 Cloud County, No. 4 Hutchinson, No. 5 Barton County, No. 6 Iowa Central,No. 7 Cowley County, No. 8 Butler, No. 9 Southwestern Christian, and No. 10 Pima filled out the rest of the top ten.
Can’t find your favorite team? Only marks from the 2015 outdoor season were considered, meaning that a few schools that haven’t started competing outdoors haven’t cracked the rankings yet. That includes indoor top ten teams Coffeyville, Iowa Western, and Monroe (which all debut this weekend) plus Vincennes, which debuts next weekend.
The rest of the women’s top ten teams: No. 2 New Mexico, No. 3 Iowa Central (the indoor runner-up), No. 4 Central Arizona, No. 5 Cloud County, No. 6 Barton County, No. 7Hutchinson, No. 8 Cuyahoga, No. 9 Neosho, and No. 10 Pima.
Coffeyville, Iowa Western, Vincennes, and Essex are the indoor top ten women’s teams missing from the rankings until they get rolling in the near future.
NJCAA rankings will be released on Wednesdays between now and the May 14-16 national championships in Hutchinson, Kansas. The inaugural NJCAA Division III rankings will be released next week.
