SUNY Delhi and Mohawk Valley Lead NJCAA DIII Rankings

NEW ORLEANS – Forty-two NJCAA Division III teams cracked the National Team Computer Rankings this week, including two new No. 1 teams. SUNY Delhi rose from No. 4 to the top men’s spot, while Mohawk Valley made its season debut as the No. 1 women’s team. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the rankings on Wednesday.

In the men’s rankings, No. 1 Delhi and No. 2 Harper overtook now-No. 3 Rowan-Gloucester for the top two spots. Delhi particularly benefited from quality hurdling over the weekend. No. 4 Mohawk Valley, No. 5 Montgomery-Rockville, No. 6 Queensborough, No. 7 Howard, No. 8 Suffolk County, No. 9 Thaddeus Stevens, and No. 10 Kingsborough filled out the rest of the men’s top ten.

Mohawk Valley’s women competed at the Ramapo College Roadrunner Invite, outpointing several NCAA DII and DIII teams. They jumped into the rankings ahead of No. 2 Suffolk County, No. 3 SUNY Delhi, No. 4 Montgomery-Rockville, No. 5 Rowan-Gloucester, No. 6 Harper, No. 7 Kingsborough, No. 8 Fashion Institute of Technology, No. 9 Howard, and No. 10 Queensborough.

For the second straight week, Harper, Rowan-Gloucester, and Delhi are the No. 1 men’s teams in the three regions. The Harper and R-G women held on to the top spot in the Central and East, but Mohawk Valley took over as the top-ranked women’s squad in the Northeast.

Rankings will be released each Wednesday between now and the May 7-9 NJCAA Division III Championships in Utica, New York.
