2015 Division III Cross Country Preseason All-Name Team
Earlier this week we published our 2015 Division I Cross Country Preseason All-Name Team, consisting of those runners who competed at last year’s NCAA meet and would most likely return this year.
Why let Division I have all the fun?
Here’s the 2015 Division III Cross Country Preseason All-Name Team.
Zorg Loustalet, Claremont Mudd Scripps
Everything about this name is perfect — not like Tripp Hurt, but in its own special way. Loustalet is one of five runners likely to return for Claremont Mudd Scripps this season and four of them counted to their team score at last year’s NCAA meet.
Griffin Gagnon, Colby
If there ever was a name reserved for a movie villain, this is it. Gagnon will be a junior for Colby this season and is one of four runners likely to return to help the team improve on last year’s fifth-place finish at NCAAs.
Christian Leitner, Wisconsin-Eau Claire
Hopefully this name isn’t pronounced how it sounds, because there are millions of Kentucky basketball fans who just threw their computers across the room. Leitner rounded out the scoring for Wisconsin-Eau Claire at last year’s NCAA meet and should improve on his finish as a senior.
Caroline Powers, Johns Hopkins
If you have a villain, like the aforementioned Gagnon, a hero must oppose him: Powers to the rescue. Powers, who will be a senior in 2015, will look to slide into the top 5 for the defending Division III women’s champion Johns Hopkins.
Alison Lindsay and Briana Tiffany, Washington University
Why only have one first name when two could do? Lindsay and Tiffany helped guide Washington University to a fourth-place finish at last year’s meet. The duo will likely join four returning runners who competed at NCAA’s for Washington University.
These are just a sampling of the names of athletes who competed at the 2014 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. Feel free to let us know if we forgot someone or who we should look out for this upcoming season.
