Since the previous edition of the rankings two weeks ago, the Sharks turned in a strong fourth-place finish at the LIU Post Invitational on September 19 among non-NCAA Division I teams to surge past former No. 1 Harper in the National Rankings.
Harper dropped to No. 2, followed by a pair of teams who held steady in No. 3 Fashion Institute of Technology and No. 4 Joliet JC.
The Harper men held steady at No. 1, as did No. 2 Howard CC (Maryland).
Led by two-time National Athlete of the Week Zakaria Djouma, Mohawk Valley CC moved up to No. 3. The Hawks displaced Joliet JC to No. 4.
There were big changes to both genders’ rankings at No. 5 and beyond.
The women of Ocean County and Howard CC (Maryland) both went from unranked to No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, while the No. 5 Camden County men improved four spots from last time.
Joining those two women’s squads as newcomers to the rankings were the No. 9 women of Brookdale CC and the men of No. 8 Hudson Valley CC and No. 9 Mercer County.
The next NJCAA Division III National Coaches’ Rankings will be announced October 14.
Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts, will host the 2015 NJCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on November 7, 2015.
