NCAA DII National Rankings Continue to Evolve

NEW ORLEANS – As more teams and athletes continue to open up their 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field campaigns, the National Team Computer Rankings continue to evolve.

Based only on marks that have been achieved during the early goings of this 2016 season, the Texas A&M-Kingsville men and Johnson C. Smith women have taken over the No. 1 spots for their respective genders in the third edition of the rankings.
Last week’s No. 1 Angelo State men and women dropped to No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
Three-time defending national champion Saint Augustine’s moved to No. 2, while Ashland debuted at No. 3. Former top-ranked squads Angelo State and UC San Diego rounded out the top five.
Grand Valley State’s women held steady at No. 2, while Saint Augustine’s moved up 10 spots to No. 3. Texas A&M-Kingsville and Findlay rounded out the top five.
Qualifying for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, to be held May 26-28 in Bradenton, Florida, began February 18. These rankings do not serve as a projection for how those Championships could play out, but rather as an indicator of how well teams have performed up to this point in the season.
No preseason marks were included in these rankings, and more teams will be added as they open their outdoor campaigns in the coming weeks.
