NJCAA DIII National Rankings Shuffle After Regionals
NEW ORLEANS – With nearly all the NJCAA Division III Cross Country Region Championships in the books, the races for the national titles are now on the homestretch.
The penultimate National Coaches’ Rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association show some movement near the top of the men’s race, while the women’s rankings largely held steady.
As they have for the duration of the regular season, both the men and women of Harper College continued to reign atop the rankings. The Hawk men and women claimed the NJCAA DIII team titles at the Region IV Championships.
There was some movement behind the Hawks in the men’s rankings, however, as Suffolk County CC moved up to No. 2, swapping spots with No. 3 Howard CC.
Ocean County went from unranked to No. 4, while Onondaga CC jumped from No. 10 to No. 5.
Each of the next five teams trailing the Harper women kept up the pace over the regionals weekend, as No. 2 Columbus State CC, No. 3 Bergen CC, No. 4 Rowan-Gloucester CC, No. 5 Camden County and No. 6 FIT all remained steady.
Joining the top-10 this week was No. 8 Howard CC, which had previously not been ranked.
