Pringle, Konieczek Named High-Point Scorers at NCAA DII Indoor Meet

NEW ORLEANS – Ashland’s Myles Pringle and Western State’s Alicja Konieczek were the High-Point Scorers from the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Pringle totaled 22.5 points at the meet, scoring more than any other men’s athlete at the Robert W. Plaster Center, while Konieczek also notched 22.5 points as the highest-scoring woman at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Pringle, a junior from Cincinnati, had a historic meet, as he posted the NCAA Division II all-time, all-conditions 400 time of 45.93 for a national title, netting him 10 points. Pringle also scored eight points in the 200 with a runner-up finish of 20.96. The sprinter anchored the Eagles’ 4×400 team that placed second with a time of 3:10.44, giving him another two points.

In the field, Pringle tied for sixth in the high jump with a leap of 2.08 (6-9¾) for his final 2.5 points.

In all, Pringle’s 22.5 points accounted for 56 percent of Ashland’s team total of 40.5. The Eagles placed fourth at the meet.

Konieczek was responsible for two individual titles and a relay championship for the Mountaineers this year. The redshirt-junior from Zbaszyn, Poland, won the mile with a time of 4:48.33 as well as the 3000 with a finish of 9:29.39.

Konieczek also anchored a quartet of Mountaineers to the distance medley relay title where the team posted a time of 11:19.98, giving her 2.5 points for her efforts.

Western State finished runner-up in the team standings at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships and Konieczek accounted for more than half of the team’s 40 points.
