Grand Valley State swept the Men’s Indoor and Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year awards, the first time a program has accomplished the feat since Tiffin in 2016. The Lakers placed third at the indoor national championships and followed it up with a fourth-place showing at outdoors. To go with their success on the track, Grand Valley State compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.05 as a team. It is the first time the Lakers have won the honor during the outdoor season since a split of the title in the debut of the Scholar Team of the Year award following the 2007 season and is the first time the group won the honor during indoor since that same 2007 campaign.
On the women’s side Adams State was named the Women’s Indoor Scholar Team of the Year while Lincoln (Mo.) captured the Outdoor School Team of the Year.
Adams State recorded a team cumulative GPA of 3.34 as they won their first Indoor Scholar Team of the Year for the first time since 2014 after the group won the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships this past March. The Grizzlies have received the award four times in program history.
Lincoln (Mo.), who were crowned the 2019 NCAA DII Outdoor Champions, also won the Outdoor Scholar Team of the Year honors after the group posted a cumulative GPA of 3.12. It is the third time in program history that the Blue Tigers have been the recipients of the award and the first since 2009.
