Jessica Hull Sets All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate Mile Best
Move over, Jenny Barringer.
Jessica Hull is now the Queen of the Mile.
(At least as it pertains to the All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate List.)
Hull covered the distance in 4:24.93 yesterday at the Müller Grand Prix in Birmingham, England. She finished fifth in the Diamond League race behind Konstanze Klosterhalfen, Gabriela Debues-Stafford, Eilish McColgan and Linden Hall.
That time was superior to the previous all-dates, all-time collegiate best of 4:25.91, set by Barringer in 2009. It should be noted that Barringer’s 4:25.91 came on the banked, 200-meter oval in College Station, Texas, at the Big 12 Indoor Track & Field Championships 10 years ago and still stands as the collegiate record in the event.

Hull established herself as one of the finest mid-distance runners in the nation in her final two years at Oregon. She won the 1500 at the NCAA outdoor meet in 2018, finished runner-up in Austin just a few months ago and anchored the Ducks to back-to-back DMR titles indoors.
This wasn’t the first big mark Hull turned in after she turned professional. Hull PR’d in the 1500 at the Pre Classic back in June when she ran 4:02.62. That moved her up to No. 2 on the All-Dates, All-Time Collegiate List in that event.
