2020 NJCAA Division II Cross Country All-America
NEW ORLEANS – All-America honors for the 2020 NJCAA Division II Cross Country season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
For an athlete to earn All-America status, they must have finished among the top-15 athletes at the 2020 NJCAA Division II Cross Country Championships this past weekend in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and belong to a USTFCCCA member program.
National champion North Iowa Area CC led the way on the men’s side with four honorees: Individual champion Melvin Kipkemboi, Jorge Ruiz (sixth), Vicente Correia (11th) and Jalen Petersen (12th). The Trojans held off a strong challenge from runner-up Allen (Kan.) CC and third-place Cowley College, who both had multiple athletes earn All-America nods.
National champion Cowley College and runner-up Heartland (Ill.) CC tied with three All-America honors each on the women’s side. The Tigers, who won the national title by just three points, spread their honors out with individual champion Lubna Suied, sixth-place Zinara Lesley and 11th-place Karissa Glover, while the Hawks packed theirs together in 12th place (Olivia Boyd), 14th place (Olivia Trask) and 15th place (Brooke Evans).
