NAIA OTF National Athletes of the Week (April 28)
The NAIA National Office announced its National Athlete of the Week selections for outdoor track & field on Wednesday.
Kenny Benton of Tennessee Wesleyan was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after a sterling performance at the AAC Championships. Benton earned Track MVP honors thanks to winning the 100, 200, 400 and helping out on the first-place 4×100 relay.
Hunter Drops of Oregon Tech was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after a strong effort at the CCC Multi Championships. Drops won the javelin throw with a mark of 70.93m (232-8) and now leads the nation by more than 25 feet.
Emily Kearney of Milligan (Tenn.) was named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after topping the podium three different times at the AAC Championships. Kearney won the 1500, 5000 and was a member of the first-place 4×800 relay.
Jai-Lyn Norwood of Marian (Ind.) was named Women’s Field Athlete of the Week after starring at the Strive for Greatness Invitational. Norwood won the triple jump with an “A” standard for the NAIA Championships and finished fifth in the long jump with a PR.
