Collegiate Record: Katelyn Tuohy Establishes 3000-Meter Standard

Katelyn Tuohy can’t be stopped.

Tuohy set her second collegiate record of the indoor season – this time in the 3000 meters. The NC State phenom crossed the finish line in 8:35.20 at the 115th Millrose Games, taking more than six seconds off the former all-time best of 8:41.60 established by Karissa Schweizer in 2018.

You don’t have to look too far in the past for Tuhoy’s first collegiate record.

Just a few weeks earlier, Tuohy shattered 2009 The Bowerman winner Jenny Simpson’s (neé Barringer) record in the mile with her 4:24.26 at the Dr. Sander Invitational. That came on the same track inside the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory.
