Collegiate Record: Britton Wilson Sets All-Time Outdoor 400-Meter Best

Britton Wilson is showing no mercy to the collegiate record book.

Wilson took down Athing Mu’s two-year-old, all-time collegiate best in the Women’s 400 Meters on Saturday when she went 49.51 at the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida. That shaved 0.06 seconds off the previous standard set by Mu in her Bowerman-winning year.

Even more impressive is the fact that 49.51 is just Wilson’s second-fastest mark of the collegiate year. Wilson’s indoor CR of 49.48 is the absolute collegiate record, counting both indoor and outdoor marks.

One day earlier, Wilson moved up to No. 3 on the all-time collegiate chart in the 400-meter hurdles when she covered the same distance in 53.23 with barriers in her way.
