Addy Wiley Sets All-Time, All-Dates Collegiate 1500-Meter Best

The summer of Addy Wiley continues.

Wiley, who competed for Huntington (Ind.) during the 2023 collegiate track & field year, set an all-time, all-dates collegiate best in the 1500 meters on Friday afternoon at the Memorial Van Damme Diamond League Meeting in Brussels. She traversed the distance in 3:59.17, taking 0.73 seconds off the former standard set by Jenny Simpson in 2009 (Simpson’s mark is still the in-season collegiate record since it happened within the confines of the collegiate academic year).

This result, coupled with the 1:57.64 that she ran over 800 meters back on September 4, makes Wiley one of two women in U.S. history to clock sub-1:58 and sub-4:00 marks (Mary Slaney is the other). However, Slaney did so in two different years; Wiley did them four days apart.
