Undisputed Boxing Champion Katie Taylor To Be Featured Speaker For Women In Coaching Event

NEW ORLEANS – Undisputed boxing champion Katie Taylor is the featured speaker for the Women in Coaching Event at the 2023 USTFCCCA Convention on Monday, December 11.

Taylor is the current undisputed lightweight champion, holding five titles: WBA since 2017; IBF since 2018; and top honors from the WBC, WBO and The Ring magazine since 2019. When she beat Delfine Persoon for the WBO belt in 2019, she became one of only eight boxers in history, regardless of gender, to hold all four major world titles in boxing – WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO – simultaneously. Taylor is 22-1 (6 KO) as a professional and also held WBO junior-welterweight gold in 2019.

UPDATE: Taylor beat Chantelle Cameron on November 25 to capture the undisputed world junior welterweight title and avenge the only loss of her career. That made Taylor one of only two women in history to hold undisputed titles in two weight classes.

“We are thrilled to have Katie as our featured speaker,” Women in Coaching Event co-creator Rhonda Riley said. “She is credited with raising the profile of women’s boxing both at home and abroad, breaking out of a male-dominated sport. With an impressive list of accolades and a remarkable journey to success, Katie brings a wealth of inspiration and insight to our audience.”

After Taylor’s speech, female coaches will enhance their coaching skillset as veteran coaches will delve into crucial topics, offering best practices for immediate implementation. Those topics will include – but not limited to – networking in our industry, effective communication of your vision, concise messaging around topics you’re passionate about to your team, navigating self-promotion to athletes and administration alike, and much more.

Here are four of the breakout discussions offered after the keynote.

For those uninitiated, the Women in Coaching Event has been held on the first official day of the USTFCCCA Convention every year since 2014. Every female coach who is registered for Convention is encouraged to take part in the event, which has grown exponentially over the years. More than 300 female coaches attended the event last year at #USTFCCCA22.

Be sure to check out the USTFCCCA Convention website for more information about the Women in Coaching Event, as well as the entire USTFCCCA Convention, which will take place from December 11-14 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center outside of Denver.
