Whenever there is a top-5 matchup, we pay attention.
No. 1 UChicago squares off against No. 5 NYU in the women’s race, which starts at noon ET. The defending champion Maroons are looking to continue their dominant season, while the Violets hope to cement their spot among the nation’s elite programs. NYU has never won a conference title a runner-up showing in 2013 being its best finish in program history. Don’t discount No. 11 Washington (Mo.). The Bears won seven consecutive conference titles before UChicago usurped them last year.

Is another sweep in the cards?
Williams comes in with both of the top-ranked programs: No. 6 on the men’s side; No. 10 on the women’s side. The Ephs have won both team titles in each of the past three years and nine times in meet history. Tufts and Amherst are expected to be Williams’ strongest competition in the men’s and women’s race, respectively. The 14th-ranked Jumbo men last won the team title in 2012, while the 14th-ranked Mammoth women hope to capture their first crown since 2007.

Read what we wrote about the UAA Championships.
A savory top-5 matchup between No. 2 UW-La Crosse and No. 4 UW-Whitewater is lined up for the men’s race at noon CT. The Eagles and the Warhawks have yet to take flight against each other with their full squads this season. Earlier this month, UW-Whitewater beat UW-La Crosse at the Blugold Invitational, but the Eagles’ varsity squad ventured to Pennsylvania for the Paul Short Run (UW-La Crosse finished seventh in the Men’s College Gold 8k). The Warhawks rolled at the Blugold Invitational, though, scoring just 28 points as they put six athletes in the top-15.
