2025 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Regional Awards
NEW ORLEANS — Here are our Regional Athletes & Coaches of the Year for the 2025 NJCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field season!
Men’s Track Athlete of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – Nathan Ciarlette – Joliet (Ill.) JC
Ciarlette, who hails from Joliet, Illinois, set an all-time NJCAA DIII best in the 1500 meters when he ran 3:52.04 at the Elmhurst Twilight. He also set PRs in the 400 meters (53.04), 800 meters (1:54.79), and 5000 meters (15:59.67) and qualified for the NJCAA DIII Outdoor Championships in multiple events.
EAST REGION – Kyler Alston – Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC
Alston is ranked first nationally in the 400-meter hurdles at 54.92.
NORTHEAST REGION – Alexander Bento – Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC
Bento, who hails from Hauppauge, New York, is ranked first nationally in the steeplechase at 9:46.17. He is also ranked among the top-25 athletes in the 800 meters at 2:06.66.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – William Kallas – DuPage (Ill.)
Kallas, who hails from Riverside, Illinois, is ranked first nationally in the pole vault at 4.85m (15-11). He is more than one foot, six inches ahead of the next athlete on the seasonal chart.
EAST REGION – Walter Moore – RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.)
Moore, who hails from Clayton, New Jersey, is ranked first nationally in the discus at 40.13m (131-8), a mark that he set early in the season at the Stockton Invitational. He is also ranked fifth nationally in the shot put at 13.09m (42-11½) and fourth regionally in the hammer.
NORTHEAST REGION – Matthew Flood – Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC
Flood, who hails from Manorville, New York, is ranked first nationally in the decathlon with 5354 points. He is also ranked sixth nationally in the javelin at 43.51m (142-9) and tops the regional chart in the pole vault, among other accolades.
Men’s Coach of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – Mallory Dominguez – DuPage (Ill.)
Dominguez, in her second year as Head Coach at College of DuPage (Ill.), led the Chaps to a No. 1 national team ranking.
EAST REGION – Jeoffrey York – Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC
York, in his seventh year as Head Coach at Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC, led the Vikings to have athletes ranked Top-10 nationally in 12 events. In the 400-meter hurdles, one of his coaching specialties, five of his athletes are among the top-12.
NORTHEAST REGION – Weber Lord – Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC
Lord, in his first year as Head Coach at Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC, led the Sharks to a No. 1 team ranking in the Northeast Region.
Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – Floyd Turner – DuPage (Ill.)
Turner, in his third year as assistant coach at College of DuPage (Ill.), coached the Chaps’ throwers to 11 national qualifying marks across four events. His hammer throwers are nationally ranked Nos. 1, 2 and 4.
EAST REGION – Richard Johnson – RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.)
Johnson, in his third year as assistant coach at RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.), coached the Roadrunners’ sprinters and hurdlers to 10 top-5 regional rankings across seven events, led by the regional leader in the 100.
NORTHEAST REGION – Andres Guerrero – Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC
Guerrero, in his first year as assistant coach at Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC, coached the Sharks’ distance runners to lead the Northeast Region in three events.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – Ellie Logsdon – DuPage (Ill.)
Logsdon, who hails from DuPage, Illinois, leads the division in four different individual events: 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and the 400-meter hurdles. It’s in the last event in which she set an all-time NJCAA DIII best of 1:01.71 at the Don Church Twilight Meet.
EAST REGION – Athena Seebald – Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC
Seebald, who hails from Wynantskill, New York, tops the division in the 10,000 meters, and sits top-ten nationally in both the steeplechase and 5000 meters at third and ninth, respectively.
NORTHEAST REGION – Kimiko Quayle – FIT (N.Y.)
Quayle clocked the second fastest time in NJCAA DIII history over 1500 meters with her 4:41.31 effort at the Tom Farrell Classic. She is also ranked third nationally in the 800 meters at 2:27.31.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – Fatumata Kaba – Delaware County (Pa.) CC
Kaba, who hails from Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, is ranked first nationally in the triple jump at 11.30m (37-1), a mark that made her only the third woman in NJCAA DIII history to eclipse 37 feet in the event. She is also ranked fifth nationally in the long jump at 5.28m (17-4).
EAST REGION – Sophia Dunning – RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.)
Dunning, who hails from Washington Township, New Jersey, is ranked second nationally in the discus at 37.36m (122-7). She is also ranked among the top-five national athletes in the javelin and hammer at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Dunning tops the region in all of those events.
NORTHEAST REGION – Madison Grant – Suffolk County (N.Y.) CC
Grant, who hails from Central Islip, New York, is ranked among the nation’s best athletes in all four throwing events. Her top event is the shot put, where she sits third on the Descending Order List with a mark of 10.55m (34-7½).
Women’s Coach of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – Mallory Dominguez – DuPage (Ill.)
Dominguez, in her second year as Head Coach at College of DuPage (Ill.), led the Chaps to a No. 1 national team ranking.
EAST REGION – Ryan Hughes – RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.)
Hughes, in his 22nd year as Head Coach at RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.), led the Roadrunners to a No. 4 national team ranking. His athletes lead the East Region in seven events, and eight of his athletes combined to qualify for 21 spots at the national championships.
NORTHEAST REGION – Chris Omeltchenko – Queensborough (N.Y.) CC
Omeltchenko, in his 26th year as Head Coach at Queensborough (N.Y.) CC, led the Tigers to a No. 1 team ranking in the Northeast Region. Queensborough is ranked No. 1 regionally in four events.
Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year
CENTRAL REGION – Jim Akins – Mineral Area (Mo.)
Akins, in his fourth year as assistant coach at Mineral Area (Mo.), coached the Cardinals’ throwers to lead the nation in all four throwing events with four different athletes.
EAST REGION – Joseph Kalnas – RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.)
Kalnas, in his 19th year as assistant coach at RCSJ Gloucester (N.J.), coached the Roadrunners’ throwers to lead the East Region in three events.
NORTHEAST REGION – Aziwoh Ayafor – Queensborough (N.Y.) CC
Ayafor, in his 16th year as assistant coach at Queensborough (N.Y.) CC, coached the Tigers’ sprinters and hurdlers to lead the Northeast Region in three events, including the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.
