Checking The Record Book: Post-2025 Outdoor Season

Allow us to take a deep breath, because we have a lot to say.

Check that.

The results from the 2025 outdoor season speak for themselves.

Athletes toppled 38 divisional records across five collegiate divisions.

Let’s add them up: seven collegiate records; seven NCAA Division II records; 11 NCAA Division III records; nine NAIA records; and four NJCAA records.

Thirteen of those records came at their respective national championships, including three of the collegiate variety – all from women: Michigan’s Savannah Sutherland in the 400-meter hurdles; Alabama’s Doris Lemngole in the steeplechase; and Washington’s Hana Moll in the pole vault.

Athletes were particularly prolific during the middle of spring: 31 of the 38 records were set between April and May with May being the hottest on the track and in the field with 18. March and June saw four and three records, respectively. Don’t cry for them, though: six of those seven records were collegiate records – Villanova’s Liam Murphy in the 1500 meters; New Mexico’s Ishmael Kipkurui in the 10,000 meters; and Roberts Wesleyan’s Brynn King in the pole vault (King’s record had since been broken).

Don’t even get us started on all-time marks.
