Recent Collegians Shake Up All-Times, All-Dates List At Pre Classic
Just because the collegiate season is over doesn’t mean recent collegians aren’t still getting after it on the track and in the field. You better believe that will be the case throughout the summer as the 2025 World Championships aren’t until mid-September in Tokyo.
That being said, the Pre Classic always brings out the stars and 2025 was no different – especially when it comes to recent collegians.
Here are some standout performances.
- Ishmael Kipkurui, who competed for New Mexico during the 2025 track & field seasons, improved his own 10,000-meter PR to 26:47.72 and lowered his own all-time, all-dates collegiate best by nearly three seconds. Kipkurui already held the 10k CR at 26:50.21 from when he ran strong at the Sound Running TEN in late March.
- Ethan Strand, who competed for North Carolina during the 2025 track & field seasons, set an all-time, all-dates collegiate outdoor best in the mile. Strand won the International Mile in 3:48.86, narrowly missing his absolute collegiate record of 3:48.32 that he set during the indoor season. Gary Martin, who competed for Virginia during the 2025 track & field seasons, wasn’t too far behind Strand in 3:49.73 for the fourth fastest mark on an all-dates basis.
- Cierra Jackson, who competed for Louisville during the 2025 track & field seasons and set a meet record in winning the discus at the NCAA DI Outdoor Championships in Eugene, let the platter fly PR 67.82m to finish runner-up to Valarie Allman. That put her No. 3 on an all-dates basis behind Jordine van Klinken and Jayden Ulrich.
NOTE: The all-time, all-dates collegiate chart counts performances from collegians who competed during the previous calendar year, regardless of their status as a professional athlete.
